A marker is small, often lost, left in the cart or bag, is somewhere deep in your pocket or has fallen from your pocket on the course a few holes back.  There have been clips and other complicated devices developed meant to cure the eternal problem of the inconveniently located marker, but they all have flaws.  The answer is simple...  Maybe even existential…
